Dr. Messerschmitt completed his Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio. He earned his medical degree from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in Cincinnati, Ohio. He has written several award-winning essays for his orthopaedic research on topics such as osteosarcoma and lumbar laminectomy, served as Junior Editor for the Case Orthopaedic Journal and also has co-authored a number of articles, book chapters and presentations on a wide array of orthopaedic and other medical topics.
Before joining Mercy Health, Dr. Messerschmitt was a Hand and Upper Extremity Surgeon at Orthopaedic Associates of Dutchess County in Poughkeepsie, New York, and an Attending Orthopaedic Surgeon at several area hospitals.
Dr. Messerschmitt enjoys seeing patients of all ages, from pediatric to adult, and he began seeing patients in August.
