The deadline for submission of 2025 Scholarships to the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) is fast approaching and candidates should not wait until the last minute to try to apply for the $1,000 Scholarship Grant.
Last year, the VVA awarded four (4) $1,000 Scholarships to successful candidates from Batavia High School; New Richmond High School; and Felicity-Franklin High School. VVA Chapter #649 has been awarding college scholarships to local students for the past nine (9) years.
The program is possible because of their annual fundraising activities, including their annual golf outing, raffle, and direct donations from the community. Chapter #649 began the program with one $500 scholarship and have increased the number of scholarships and the dollar amount each year.
VVA #649 Board of Directors member John Plahovinsak and Chairman of the VVA #649 2025 Scholarship Committee explained the criteria and process of applying for the $1,000 scholarship.
“Applications are accepted from local high school seniors residing in Clermont County whose parent, grandparent, or great-grandparent is a veteran. Copies of the DD-214 are required to be submitted. The criteria for the award include academic level, community service, character, and the application process itself.”
Applications must be postmarked no later than midnight, April 30, 2025.
Copies of the application and the instructions for applying were provided to the seventeen (17) School Scholarship Advisors, by the VVA #649 Scholarship Committee members, on January 6, 2025.
Students interested in applying should ask for assistance from their school advisor concerning the program or download the application by clicking on the scholarship button on the Chapter #649 website at www.vva649.org.
