Donna Chapel, a country music singer who has performed at the Grand Ole Opry, is returning to her hometown of New Richmond for a show Dec. 6.

Chapel was raised in New Richmond and said her family has a long history in the village.

“I went through the ninth grade in New Richmond,” Chapel said.

But instead of growing up in New Richmond and becoming a teacher like she thought she would, Chapel joined her step-mother Tammy Wynette as a backup singer in Nashville and continued her singing career there.

“To go from Front Street to singing at the Grand Ole Opry was quite a change,” Chapel said. “It was a thrill.”

Chapel said she is looking forward to putting on a Grand Ole Opry-style show at the New Richmond Market Street School.

“I am really happy and honored to get to come back to my hometown,” Chapel said.

The show will also feature Jesse James Cuno and Don Chapel.

RiverStage Community Theatre and Susanna’s Guest House will be sponsoring the show.

The show will be at 2 p.m. And 7 p.m. Dec. 6 at the school. Tickets are $15. For more information about tickets call (513) 553-7262.

A reception will be held at the Vorholt House following the show. Tickets are $10.
