Planned Parenthood, a provider of reproductive healthcare, has closed its Clermont County location.

Danielle Craig, director of communications for Planned Parenthood, said the location at 834 Ohio Pike in Withamsville closed on Oct. 31.

Craig said staff from the Clermont center moved to the Springdale center.

Jerry Lawson, CEO of Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio, said that while providers are being affected by changes to family planning resources, the closure of the Clermont County location is not due to cuts made by the state.

“Providers across the state are all deeply affected by changes to family planning resources,” Lawson said. “With this strain on the healthcare safety net for low-income women, Planned Parenthood’s services are more vital than ever. The closure of our Clermont Health Center is part of a three-year strategic plan in Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio’s health centers and was not the result of cuts made by the state.”

He said the closure is intended to position Planned Parenthood to continue to meet growing and diverse needs of women, men and families throughout Southwest Ohio.

“Planned Parenthood has been in this area for more than 85 years, and we’re not going anywhere,” Lawson said. “We care deeply about the health of our patients in the Clermont County area and invite them to continue receiving health care services at one of our nearby locations.”

He said the locations include the Elizabeth Campbell Health Center, about 20 minutes away, and the Springdale Health Center.

“Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio region is grateful to the Clermont community for its support and determination to ensure that high quality healthcare is accessible to all,” Lawson said.

A Caring Place is a pregnancy help center located at 4446 Mt. Carmel Tobasco Road in Clermont County.

Shawna Dunn, executive director of A Caring Place, did not have a comment about Planned Parenthood closing, but said that A Caring Place provides many services for expecting parents in the community.

“If they need a pregnancy test we can provide that to them at no cost,” Dunn said. “We have a boatload of services. If they are pregnant and choosing to be a parent we want them to be the best parents.”
