Living Spaces Custom Design, a local kitchen and bath design shop owned by Pam McKiernan, is offering cooking demonstrations.

“We’re trying to do about one every month or two,” McKiernan said.

The shop can comfortably accommodate about 20 for the cooking demonstration. Past courses have included cooking instructions for full five course meals, followed by a tasting of each dish that was prepared. Guest chefs have included Rita Heikenfeld, David Cook, Amy Tobin, and Gayle Payton Walls.

“So far, everyone’s really been enjoying them,” said Jan Smith, McKiernan’s sister and assistant.

Smith also said they plan on hosting holiday themed cooking demonstrations.

“We hope to be do both a Thanksgiving and a Christmas themed course,” she said.

There are also plans to host a course for kids to teach them some of the basics of cooking.

The next cooking demonstration will be the first “hands on” event. It will take place 6:30-8:30 p.m. July 25 with Chef Jaime Carmody leading the demonstration. Carmody has more than 20 years professional culinary experience. She is currently the owner of Out of Thyme, Ltd., a Cincinnati based personal chef service.

The “Hands On” course will instruct attendants how to prepare buffalo pizza with homemade blue cheese dressing, Greek salad, pretzels filled with hot dogs and cheese, and more.

Registration for the July 25 “Hands On” event is open now until July 19. Seats are $30 each.

To register, visit the shop on Main Street in Batavia, call (513) 735-2393, or send an email to livingspaces@fuse.net . Living Spaces Custom Designs is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m Monday-Friday.
