The Clermont County League’s last winter all-star squads were 20 years ago

It’s hard to believe its been 20 years since the last Clermont County League winter all-star teams were chosen. Following are the squad members.

Milford, Clermont Northeastern, Batavia, Felicity male cagers unbeaten in pre-Christmas contests

Milford and Clermont Northeastern continue to tear through their competition. Batavia and Felicity have become recent additions to the number of unbeaten boys varsity basketball teams in Clermont County in recent action. The Eagles humbled Harrison’s Wildcats 65-49 in Fort Ancient Valley Conference (FAVC-B) Buckeye Division action that took place on the winners’ hardwood. The Red and White was in control at each intermission.

Milford Christian announces varsity cage rosters and schedule for 2008 season

Milford Christian Academy’s (MCA) Bulldogs will soon be entering a big section of their varsity boys and girls basketball schedules. Dave Williamson, former Amelia High basketball standout from the class of 1978, has released the schedules and rosters of the varsity teams.

Glen Este, Batavia girl cagers continue to win; Milford’s E-Gals showing much improvement

The Clermont County distaff high school varsity basketball teams are somewhat successful seeking several victories. In recent competition, Glen Este and Batavia have not absorbed a setback and Bethel-Tate has added on a couple of victories. Milford continues to improve on its efforts of a year ago. The Trojans won a key inner-county Fort Ancient Valley Conference Buckeye (FAVC-B) Division showdown over the visiting Milford Eagles 58-45. The game marks the first time the two have faced each other in a varsity girls cage FAVC contest. The Purple and White pulled steadily away with leads of 12-9, 33-15, and 42-27 at the end of each quarter.

Amelia graduate returning to Cincinnati as part of Cleveland Browns contingent, Dec. 23

Tim Dubravetz will be returning to Cincinnati this weekend. The Amelia High School graduate will be one member of a large entourage arriving from Cleveland for the Browns’ Dec. 23 National Football League game versus the Cincinnati Bengals. Dubravetz, a 1999 Amelia High grad, is an associate director and videographer for New Media, the production department of the Cleveland Browns.

CNE, Milford best male county cagers thus far

Clermont Northeastern continues to overpower Southern Buckeye Conference (SBC) and Clermont County adversaries. The other county varsity boys high school basketball squads have either broken even or are anxiously searching for a victory.

Glen Este and Amelia male and female bowling teams knocking down all of their competition

Bowling season is off and rolling and the West Clermont teams are sparing no one as they strike for an increasing number of victories. Kathy DeMarko, as always has her squads in winning form. The girls won their first contests over Kings’ Knights, Northwest’s Knights, Wilmington’s Hurricanes, and Goshen’s Warriors 2180-1859 all at Cherry Grove Lanes which serves as the Trojans’ home.

Most county girls varsity cage squads defeating only each other; GE emerging with FAVC wins

Batavia is in the forefront of the efforts of Clermont County’s high school varsity girls basketball teams. The showing of most of the county’s varsity distaff teams have been rather average or worse. Glen Este’s varsity girls cagers have, by far, been the most successful of the county’s distaff teams as it pertains to defeating teams from outside the Clermont County borders.

Schweickart and the Simpson brothers are champs at Bob Guy Invite; Amelia wrestlers begin with win

Wrestling season has begun in Clermont County and the early-on action is becoming very busy. Loveland was the victor of this event that is being known for the first time as the Bob Guy Invitational instead of the Williamsburg Invitational. It is named in honor of long-time Wildcat mat mentor Bob Guy. Loveland took home the gold as the Tigers’ “B” squad amassed 255 points, Clermont Northeastern 212, Mason “B” 210, Western Brown “B” 204, North College Hill 144, Jackson 140, Mariemont 113, Greenfield McClain 107, and Williamsburg 64.
