Goshen and Felicity girls victors in sectional basketball tournament first round encounters

The last of Clermont County’s varsity girls basketball teams have been eliminated from their respective sectional tournaments. Noteworthy is the fact that Goshen’s Warriors and Felicity’s Cardinals did win a tournament game apiece, but they defeated fellow Southern Buckeye Conference members whom they had previously beaten during the regular season.

Six Clermont grapplers earn trip to state

Six of Clermont County’s finest high school wrestlers have extended their season another week by qualifying for this weekend’s state championship tournament that will take place at the Jerome L. Schottenstein Center on the campus of The Ohio State University, Columbus.

Three Clermont County high school swimming stars competed in the state championship meet that took place last weekend (Feb. 23 & 24) at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton.

Goshen girls grab gold in SBC-A basketball race

Clermont County’s high school girls varsity basketball season has entered the final, or tournament, segment of the campaign. Due to the very recent snow, rain, and ice most prep athletic events were cancelled including most sectional tournament showdowns. Some of the tournament contests did take place, however.

Goshen earns SBC- A boys basketball title

Clermont County’s high school varsity boys basketball squads are attempting to close out the regular-season portion of their respective campaigns, but bad weather has become a huge factor in determining when the regular-season will actually come to a conclusion.

CNE celebrates and Doerger reflects on win 500

Jerry Doerger, Clermont Northeastern head boys varsity basketball coach, achieved his 500th career victory last Tuesday night (Feb. 20) as the Rockets dominated the visiting New Richmond Lions 67-37 in a Southern Buckeye Conference American Division contest. The countdown to 500 wins poster on the wall close to the Blue and Gold’s bench was finally completed and Doerger was very happy.

Amelia boys defeat FAVC-C leader; Milford is winning again; Batavia’s on a winning streak

Clermont County’s varsity boys basketball teams are showing some serious late season spark. Amelia defeated Fort Ancient Valley Conference Buckeye Division (FAVC-C) opponent Turpin to drop the Spartans from sole ownership of the conference lead.

Batavia, GE, and Goshen girls finishing strong

Batavia’s girls and those from Glen Este and Goshen are enjoying the best finishes to the 2006-07 regular-season of varsity basketball. Batavia is still in the midst of the Southern Buckeye Conference National (SBC-N) Division championship chase after a 53-32 beating of Blanchester. The host Bulldogs were in command all the way 10-3, 24-17, and 40-22.

Milford earns best seed for county boys in sectional

Six more of Clermont County’s varsity boys basketball teams will be beginning their trail through their respective sectional tournaments. Milford (number-10 seed) versus Wilmington (number-19 seed), Feb. 22, 8 p.m., at the University of Cincinnati.

Lions’ Kramer leads large pool of district swimmers

Clermont countians turned in respectable performances in their respective sectional swimming meets. New Richmond senior Nate Kramer was the pacesetter for the county in the Division I Sectional and all sectionals, both boys and girls, with two first place finishes. He won the 200-yard freestyle in 1-minute, 44.55-seconds and the 500 free in 4:45.10.
