Goshen was state baseball champion in 1958

It is very hard to believe that it will be 50 years ago next month Goshen won the Class B Ohio state baseball championship. Goshen’s state title was only the second team title won by a Clermont County high school. The first was the Amelia varsity baseball team’s Class B state crown earned on May 27, 1950.

Joe MacFarland is sparing nothing in his efforts to strike up more participation in local bowling

Joe MacFarland has been representing Clermont County and Ohio in local, state, and national bowling circuits for many years. His most recent endeavor was to compete in the United States Bowling Championship (USBC) Tournament that took place last month in Albuquerque, N. M.

Batavia Bulldogs, Bethel-Tate, Milford, and New Richmond are netting the most tennis victories

Batavia emerged a victor the most in the opening games of Clermont County’s high school varsity tennis season. Bethel-Tate, Milford, and New Richmond have also been recent winners. “They’ve been playing really well and they’re getting better,” said Milford boys tennis coach Jeff Hoover of his Eagles who are 5-4 overall and 3-1 in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference Buckeye Division.

Batavia, Milford diamondmen have best leadoff

Batavia and Milford have recorded winning records in the opening of Clermont County’s high school varsity baseball season. Amelia, Bethel-Tate, Clermont Northeastern, and Glen Este have broken even. The Bulldogs went just five innings to batter Georgetown’s G-Men 13-1 in the Southern Buckeye Conference National Division. Kris Hecktor hurled a three-hitter for the ‘Dogs. He helped himself with two hits and Ryan Anstaett added two hits and three runs batted in (RBI).

Quick fast pitch softball starters are Batavia, Milford

Batavia and Milford have emerged as the major winners among the Clermont County varsity fast pitch softball teams. Glen Este and New Richmond have also recorded victories. The Bulldogs edged Wyoming’s Cowboys 5-4 behind the two-hit pitching of Jamie Bare in a non-conference game. Brittney Cook and Emily Sellers had two hits each and Samm Ison two hits and two runs batted in (RBI) for the Green and White.

Seven Rockets inducted into CNE Sports Hall

A capacity attendance was on hand to view the annual Owensville/Clermont Northeastern High School Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Following are the inductees of the class of 2008. Mike Adams (CNE class of 1970) was a Clermont County League (CCL) football and wrestling all-star.

New Richmond hosts its 38th annual track invite

The champions of the 38th Annual New Richmond Invitational literally ran away from their challengers. Among the boys, Western Brown tallied 137.5 points, Brossart, Ky. (Br) 82, New Richmond (NR) 62.5, Blanchester (Bl) 50, Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy (CHCA) 49, Bethel-Tate (BT) 43, Williamsburg (Wms) 43, North Adams (NA) 32, Batavia (Bat) 30, Goshen (Gos) 24.5, St. Bernard (SB) 24, Felicity (Fel) 18, Georgetown (G) 11, Eastern (E) 9, Ripley (R) 6.5, and Clermont Northeastern (CNE) 1.

Clermont countians have won state track crowns

The following is a list of Clermont County’s track and field state champions, individual and team.

New Richmond boys win Bethel-Tate Polar Bear Relay

Clermont County athletes and teams dominated the Polar Bear Relays that took place in cold weather at Bethel-Tate High School. New Richmond was the champion with 77 points, Goshen had 67, Williamsburg 64, Glen Este 59, Covington Holmes (Ky.) 39, Bethel-Tate 34, Eastern 26, Reading 25, Ripley 18, and Mariemont 17.

‘Cats wild over second class of athletic hall of fame

The second class of inductees into the Williamsburg High School Athletic Hall of Fame added six new members to the lair this year. Dennis Butts (class of 1972) lettered in football and basketball. On the gridiron the offensive end earned all-Clermont County League, All-District and All-Ohio honors.
