Heritage Girls collect for kids in foster care

American Heritage Girls Troop OH0522 spent time recdently participating in H.U.G.S. (Heritage Girls United in Giving Service). The girls collected donations of school supplies and other items for duffle bags for children placed in foster care.

Rep. Bubp to receive Legion of Merit Award

House Minority Leader William Batchelder (R-Medina) has announced that State Representative Danny R. Bubp will be presented the Legion of Merit medal, an award offered by the armed forces to honor officers and those enlisted in the armed forces who have distinguished themselves by exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services.

Support group for suicide survivors can help

Every 18 minutes someone dies by suicide in this country. About 90 percent of those individuals who die by suicide have a diagnosable psychiatric disorder at the time of their death (most often depression or bipolar disorder).

Clermont Conservation District annual banquet to be held Oct. 29

The Clermont Conservation District Banquet will be held Thursday, Oct. 29 in the Multi-Purpose Building at the Fairgrounds in Owensville. Tickets are $10 for adults and $4 for children (12 and under) and must be purchased in advance.

Amelia officials welcome a new restaurant to the village

An opening party was held at the Great Scott Diner in Amelia Monday, Sept. 28. This is the second restaurant for owners Scott Elsaesser and Laura Krauser. The restaurant features a classic diner concept complete with a 1920s restored canary yellow roadster mounted to the exterior sign and the front end of a 1950s Studebaker in the foyer.

Free GED classes are being offered at two locations

The Clermont County Educational Service Center operates the Adult Basic and Literacy Education (ABLE) program for residents in Clermont County as well as surrounding counties.

Sheriff’s Office receives donation

Recently, the Miami Rifle and Pistol Club of Clermont County graciously donated $750 to the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office.

Clermont Health District receives federal grant

Clermont County Health Commissioner Marty Lambert has announced that the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Ohio Traffic Safety Office has awarded $49,500 in federal traffic safety funding to the Clermont County General Health District. This grant has been received in Clermont County for several years and is the funding source for the Safe Communities program.

Mayor Thebout travels to the nation’s capital

Mayor John Thebout of Batavia recently visited the nation’s capitol with his family. His experience included the full extent of the government at work. Mayor Thebout met with Congresswoman Jean Schmidt in her capitol office.
