Troop Box Ministries to host golf outing

A golf outing to benefit Troop Box Ministries is being planned for Saturday, May 8. Proceeds from the event will help cover the cost of letters, cards and monthly boxes sent to American troops serving overseas. The scramble will take place 1 p.m. at Cedar Trace Golf Club located on Newtonsville-Hutchinson Road in Owensville and is open to golfers and non-golfers.

Committee members and volunteers for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Milford held an event kickoff at Milford Christian Church Feb. 25. This community celebration was open to anyone who wanted to learn more about Relay For Life and how to get involved.

Rep. Bubp honored by United Conservatives

State Rep. Danny Bubp (R-West Union) has been awarded Watchdog of the Treasury Award for the 127th General Assembly. The award recognizes key legislators or policymakers every year who work tirelessly to restore responsible limited government, lower taxes, encourage free enterprise and regulatory relief, and promote personal freedom. Bubp was also awarded the Defender of Freedom Award for his service in Iraq. A Colonel in the United States Marine Corps, Bubp was mobilized in November 2007 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and served in Ramadi, Iraq as the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force Liaison Officer to the governor of Anbar Province.

Auction to be held for ’64 Falcon

The Clermont County Sheriff’s Office will hold an auction for a 1964 Falcon Futura convertible on Saturday, March 13 at 510 W. Main Street in Batavia. You can check out the car at 9 a.m. and bidding for the court-ordered auction begins at 10 a.m.

Jewell wins New Richmond Middle School Geography Bee

They next time Abby Jewell’s family goes on a driving trip for vacation they can leave their GPS at home. When they want to know where they’re at, all they have to do is ask Abby. “My mom (Rebecca Jewell) and my grandma (Beverly Jewell) take me to a lot of historic places in the summer and I’ve always paid attention to where we’re at,” said Abby Jewell, an eighth grader at New Richmond Middle School.

Clermont County government is now reaching out to citizens by utilizing Facebook, a social networking Web site that has more than 350 million active users worldwide. Citizens can go to the Web site for current information on a variety of events and issues that impact those living and working in the county and the region.
