Cholkas named outstanding art teacher

Amy Cholkas’ first impulse was to decline the nomination when informed that she was nominated for he Southwest Ohio Art Association’s Outstanding Art Teacher awards for 2010. As a regional director of the Association, Cholkas was used to honoring other people for the association’s prestigious award, and felt awkward when told that her time had come to be honored.

Grant students recognized for attendance

Grant Career Center recently held the First Quarter Attendance and Awards Assembly where students were recognized for achievements during the first quarter. Students received Perfect Attendance Awards and Honor Roll Certificates for their efforts. The Top Performers in each program were also announced for the first quarter.

Rotary recognizes student

Two high school students, one each from Batavia High School and Clermont Northeastern High School (CNE) are honored at the first meeting of each month during the school year. These students live their lives in a manner that exemplifies the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self”. Victor Glasgo was honored as the club’s Clermont Northeastern High School “Student of the Month” for October 2010.

CNE Middle School students to perform Annie at Clermont College

The sun will come out tomorrow for a group of C.N.E students who will be performing in the Middle School production of Annie Jr. on Nov. 19 and 20 at Clermont College Krueger Auditorium. This is the first year that the C.N.E. Drama Department will have a Middle School musical.

Wallace honored with Call to Service Award

Barbara Wallace, director of UC Clermont College’s College Success Program, has been honored with the President’s Call to Service Award. The national recognition acknowledges a minimum of 4,000 hours of volunteer service-both personally and professionally. Humbled by the award, Wallace insists on deferring the credit, saying she’s tremendously gratified to have worked behind the scenes on a variety of projects through the years.

A day in the life of a CSS driver

A few customers/clients ago, I met someone that made my employment at Clermont Senior Services rewarding as usual. This is a man who aspired to be a window treatment salesman for 43 years. No matter how he is feeling, our day always begins with a “Hello, how are you today?”

UC Clermont wins awards

Clermont College’s newsletter, Connection, has been awarded a gold medal in the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR) District 3 Medallion Awards competition. Additionally, a brochure highlighting UC Clermont’s arts program received a silver medal in the same contest. Winners were announced at NCPMR’s District 3 Conference in Indianapolis earlier this month.

Amelia High School Business Professionals hold officer induction

Amelia High School Business Professionals of America held an officer induction ceremony Oct. 7. The 2009-2010 chapter officers are Katie Morgan-President, Katie Whitaker-Vice President, Kenzie Mullins-Secretary, Justin Smedley-Treasurer, Shelby Engle-Historian, Virginia Henderson-Parliamentarian, and Ashley Houston-Reporter, Connor Morrow-Sergeant at Arms, Samantha Calloway and Kayla Welch-Junior Representatives and Eddie Trumble and Haley Julifs are Sophomore Representatives.

Harmony Hill Association receives $2,000 grant

The Harmony Hill Association of Williamsburg has received a $2000 grant from The Greater Cincinnati Foundation (GCF) to fund additional handicap facilities at the recently constructed carriage house at its historical site at 299 South 3rd Street.

Batavia Rotary recognies Ewing as October Student of the Month
