Bellonby completes his Marine Corps training

Paul Bruce Bellonby II, a 2004 graduate from Amelia High School, recently joined the Marine Corps through the Delayed Entry Program and attended recruit training at marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. During recruit training, he underwent 13 weeks of training that included instruction in first aid, general military subjects, physical fitness, Marine Corps history, martial arts and weapons familiarization.

Barry to speak at Williamsburg High School alumni banquet

Thom Barry (known as Thom Gross when he graduated from Williamsburg High School) who plays Detective Will Jeffries in the Sunday evening CBS series, Cold Case, is returning home Saturday, June 5 as the guest speaker at the Williamsburg Alumni Banquet to be held at the Williamsburg Middle/High School. Prepaid reservations are required.

Program offered to help reduce fall risk for seniors

The Clermont County General Health District Senior Safety Program, in collaboration with six Clermont County independent pharmacies, are participating in an innovative medication review project that will educate seniors about how certain medicines may increase their risk of falling.

Clermont Connections members clean banks of East Fork River

Clermont Connections, a young professionals group, spent a recent Saturday morning canoeing down the East Fork of the Little Miami in Batavia, Ohio. During this River Sweep, sponsored by the Soil and Water Conservation District of Clermont County, members of CCYP collected bottles, cans, tires, hubcaps, and other trash along the banks of the river as well as from the water and islands.

Nickum obtains pilot certificate at Sporty’s

Ben Nickum earned his Recreational pilot certificate on April 12, 2010. To obtain his Recreational certificate, Ben passed an oral and a flight exam with a Federal Aviation Administration designated flight examiner. Ben, a resident of Batavia, completed his flight training at Sporty’s Academy at the Clermont County Airport.

Students rewarded for achievement

Students at Williamsburg Elementary have been reading books and taking Accelerated Reader quizzes throughout the school year. Six students became members of the Millionaire’s Club by reading over 1,000,000 words. These students were treated to a breakfast at Mama’s Grill and were transported in a limousine provided by A Touch of Class Limousine.

It is the recipient of the Center of Distinction award in recognition of its high patient satisfaction rates, exceptional healing results, and outstanding clinical outcomes over the past year.

Marine returns from the Philippines

The Clermont County Commissioners welcomed home a soldier in the war on terror last week. Marine Sgt. Ryan Jones recently returned from deployment to the Philippines. Jones served six months in the Philippines as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. As Commissioner Bob Proud pointed out, the Philippines is not an area of the world usually associated with terrorists.
