The Twelfth District Court of Appeals based in Middletown has selected its Presiding and Administrative Judges for 2018.

The 2018 Presiding Judge is Judge Stephen W. Powell of West Chester. Judge Powell was elected to the court in 1994 and is the court’s longest-serving judge.

He was Judge of the Butler County Probate Court from 1990 to 1994, and Butler County Court Judge from 1988 to 1990.

As presiding judge, Judge Powell will preside over all court sessions and meetings of the court en banc.

He will generally serve as the face of the Court of Appeals during 2018.

The 2018 Administrative Judge will be Judge Robert A. Hendrickson of Monroe. Judge Hendrickson was elected to the court in 2008. He served as Butler County Court Area III Judge from 1997 to 2008. He is a former Monroe City Councilman and served as a magistrate in Hamilton Municipal Court.

As administrative judge, Judge Hendrickson will be responsible for supervising the administration, docket and calendar of the court. He will also serve as presiding judge in Judge Powell’s absence.

The Twelfth District Court of Appeals was created in 1981 and serves eight Ohio counties:

Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Clermont, Fayette, Madison, Preble and Warren.

The other judges on the court are:

Judge Mike Powell of Lebanon, Judge Robin N. Piper of Hamilton and Robert P. Ringland of Batavia.
