Fourteen students from Batavia High School were recently inducted into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS). The fourteen seniors include Jacob Daulton, Mitch Davis, Nicholas DeFrank, Taylor DeVito, Chuck Hesketh, Trevor Houser, Shawn Larios, Brett Moles, Ryan Nickolette, Will Scheffter, Micah Staggs, Jasmine Wendel, Isaac Wiederhold, and Colton Young. The students are enrolled in the Great Oaks Legal Management program at Batavia High School.
During the ceremony each student received a certificate and parents presented their child with the NTHS pin. Each student also participated in the candle lighting ceremony which signifies the core values of the organization: skills, honesty, service, responsibility, scholarship, citizenship and leadership. New members pledged to maintain the highest standard of personal conduct; continue scholastic achievement; strive for excellence in their education;, and endeavor to uphold their obligation as a citizen of their community.
Students qualified for membership based on grade point average, commitment to community service, and character. Only students enrolled in a career and technical education program are eligible.
The NTHS chapter recently elected Brett Moles as their president. Other officers include Nicholas DeFrank, Vice President; Charles Hesketh, Secretary; and Will Scheffter, Treasurer.
The Batavia chapter was created to recognize outstanding students in the program, provide scholarship opportunities for its members, and establish relationships between the educational community and business and industry.
