Seven outstanding Girl Scout volunteers were recently recognized at a Volunteer Appreciation dinner held at the Grant Career Center in Bethel, OH.

This year’s local awardees included Heather Saylor, Alison Schuler, Cindy Spurgeon, John Wainscott, Katherine Eaton, Deborah Davis, Patricia Gilbert, and Amber Gusweiler.

Awards are presented nationwide on an annual basis to leader’s who have contributed outstanding service while directly delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls, or who have contributed outstanding support of the council’s mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

Girl Scout parent Alicia Gee said, “Girl Scout leaders are the best! They give so much of their time and passion to help prepare girls to be leaders.”

Attendees enjoyed a pasta dinner provided by the Culinary Department of Grant Career Center and heard remarks from former Brown County Judge and Girl Scout Alumnae Judge Margaret Clark, a lifetime member who was also recognized as a Girl Scout Woman of Distinction in 2004.

Top Cookie Troops were also recognized, including Heather Saylor’s troop that sold a whopping 4,439 boxes this year.
