Clermont County Commissioners invite the public to celebrate the National Day of Prayer on the steps of the Clermont County Common Pleas Courthouse on Thursday, May 4. The Courthouse is located at 270 E. Main St., Batavia.

The day will begin with Bible readings at 10:30 a.m. That will be followed by a brunch for local clergy and Clermont County elected officials at 11 a.m. at the County Administration Building.

At noon at the Courthouse, former Commissioner Bob Proud will welcome attendees.

Commissioner David Uible, President of the County Commissioners, will offer a proclamation, followed by prayers from various clergy members and elected office holders. State Rep. Doug Green will sing “God Bless America.” Representatives from the Clermont County Veterans Service Commission will play Taps.

The National Day of Prayer is an annual day of observance held on the first Thursday of May.

Congress passed a law formalizing the observance in 1952.

Clermont County elected officials have celebrated the National Day of Prayer for 20 years.
