The mayor and council of the village of Bethel reenacted the income tax that voters repealed by over 61 percent. The ink of the repeal wasn’t even dry when, in special session, council reinstated it over the express objections of the voters of the village.

This village voter thinks that the mayor and council has deliberately “thumbed their noses” at the very people that put them into office.

The voters of Bethel have pushed back three different attempts to increase funding for the police department. It seems plain to see that voters do not want to do away with the police department but are objecting to the mayor and council’s attempt to fund a much larger big city department.

The village of Bethel is very small with limited resources. The voters and businesses in the village simply can’t afford this extravagance.

The next council election cycle in November 2017 will hopefully bring four new members to the council of Bethel, Ohio. This voter, for one, will be working to achieve that goal.

The next regular council meeting will be held on Jan. 12, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. Come and tell the council that they must ask for our money and not take it without permission.
