The Forest-Aires is an Anderson-based women’s chorus that passes the appreciation of vocal music to the next generation by donating its proceeds to music study for young students in high school. Six greater Cincinnati students are winners of The Forest-Aires Women’s Chorus scholarship awards for the 2016 – 2017 school year. The winners receive private voice lessons during the school year and perform solos in the Forest-Aires’ “ENCORE!” 2017 spring show being held in April on the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd at the Anderson Center Theater, 7850 Five Mile Road, 45230. This spring will be the chorus group’s 54th anniversary show, and during the past half century, the group has awarded over 270 local students voice scholarships. Lydia Noll, an alto, is a sophomore at Walnut Hills High School. Lydia has participated in choirs at Wyoming and Walnut Hills as well as musicals at Wyoming, and is involved in the Musical Theater Intensive program in the CCM preparatory department, a two-year course of training in acting, voice, and dance for high school students. This fall she was cast in the Walnut Hills production of Julius Caesar.

Augustus Corder, a baritone, is a junior at Walnut Hills High School. Augustus is a member of the Senior Ensemble and Chamber Choir at Walnut Hills. He has also performed in the musicals Sweeney Todd, West Side Story, and Hairspray, and has been selected as a member of the Ohio Music Educators Association demo choir.

Kish Richardson, a tenor, is a senior at Walnut Hills High School. While Kish has not previously studied voice, he has enriched his natural talent by participating in Beginning Choir, Men’s Ensemble, and Senior Ensemble at Walnut Hills, as well as singing with his church choir.

Sam Moody, a tenor, is a freshman at Anderson High School. While not currently a chorus member, Sam has been involved in numerous theatrical productions, throughout elementary, middle, and high school, and is currently involved with Anderson’s production of Sweeney Todd. A student of the violin for 7 years, Sam is a member of the Anderson High School orchestra, and also participated in the NKU Youth Symphony Orchestra from 2014 to 2016.

Sam Owens, who sings baritone, is a home-schooled sophomore. Sam has been a member of the Cincinnati Boys Choir, and has participated in the pops/jazz choir, musical theater, academy chorus, and band programs at Miami Valley Christian Academy. He has also performed in many musicals through the Higher Extension Learning Program and MVCA. Additionally, Sam studied piano for 5 years, and more recently has learned to play the trumpet, baritone horn, trombone, and tuba, receiving the “Most Outstanding Student in Band” award from MVCA this past spring.

Emma Shelton, who sings soprano, is a senior at Walnut Hills High School. She has been a member of the Walnut Hills Senior Ensemble for 3 years. Emma has also participated in the Young Artist Preparatory Program, and has been involved in productions of Wonderful Town, The Cherry Orchard, and Julius Caesar.
