The Williamsburg Wildcats welcomed seven other schools to campus on Dec. 3 for the Bob Guy Wrestling Invitational.

When the wrestling ended and the scores were counted, Little Miami took home the team title with 278 points, 65.5 more than the runner-up Bethel-Tate Tigers. Loveland placed third with 174 points. The host Wildcats were fourth, with Badin finishing fifth. Clermont Northeastern placed sixth, one point behind Badin.

No local wrestlers competed in the 106 pound weight class. CNE’s Joey Springer defeated Fairdale’s Tabitha Caudill via pin at 3:45 to place third in the 113-pound class.

In the 120-pound class, Bethel-Tate’s Trey Sander pinned all three of his opponents, the fastest in 45 seconds, to advance to the finals of the bracket. He then defeated Little Miami’s Cole Gintert in a 10-4 decision to win the title.

Williamsburg’s Christen Abrams finished sixth after a 15-3 major decision loss to Loveland’s Alex Smith.

CNE’s Sam Patterson defeated all four of his opponents in pool play, setting up a title bout against Little Miami’s Josh Wilder. Wilder defeated Patterson via an 8-2 decision to win the title. Bethel-Tate’s Justin Royer finished in sixth place, falling to Fairdale’s Noah Greenwell via pin at the 3:56 mark of their contest. Williamsburg’s Ezra Wallace fell in a 6-3 decision to Loveland’s Colin Durham.

In the 132-pound class, CNE’s Tyler Conley defeated Bethel-Tate’s Donnie Harrison 4-0 to take fourth place. Badin’s Jake Fontaine won the title with a 5-0 overtime win over Little Miami’s Skylar Workman.

Bethel-Tate’s Matt Hall qualified for the finals in the 138-pound class after defeating his three opponents in pool play. Hall won his first match via tech fall (16-1) before pinning his next two opponents. He won the title after defeating Little Miami’s Casey Lawrence 4-2 in overtime.

Two Tigers met in the fifth-place match of the 145-pound class. Michl Whittington was pinned in 30 seconds by teammate Jacob Petri, who finished fifth.

Badin’s Travis Argentati won the title by pinning Little Miami’s Seth Irwin at the 4:41 mark of their match.

Williamsburg’s Wyatt Lefker won the title in the 152-pound class by pinning Loveland’s Scott Furlong at the 3:53 mark of their bout. Bethel-Tate’s Jonah Blankenship dropped an 8-3 decision to CNE’s David Pride for fifth place.

Bethel-Tate’s Jordan Newberry won the title in the 160-pound class with a pin of Fairdale’s Tyler Norton. CNE’s Luke Rayburn placed fifth, defeating Bethel-Tate’s Ryan Peters 8-7.

In the 170-pound class, Bethel-Tate’s Owen Holtke defeated his three pool opponents to advance to the championship, where he dropped a 6-4 decision to Little Miami’s Brandon Matz.

Little Miami’s Tony Agricola won the title in the 182-pound class. CNE’s Dustin Lykins placed third, with Bethel-Tate’s Tyler Buschard finishing fifth.

Austin Horrell placed sixth for CNE in the 195-pound class. Williamsburg’s Trevor Berry finished second to McNicholas’ Jackson Gear.

Bethel-Tate’s Wyatt O’Neil won the 220-pound title over Williamsburg’s Dylan Bailey by a 6-3 decision. Bradley Lewis defeated Grant Firth from Little Miami for third.

In the final weight class, Bethel-Tate’s Kermit Beckworth fell to Williamsburg’s Brian Stears 5-2 in the title bout.

Jayce Glenn defeated CNE’s Max Anstaett via pin at 1:56 to take home fifth place.

Williamsburg heads to Louisville, Kentucky, for their next contest on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 9:30 a.m. Bethel-Tate will host Western Brown on Dec. 16, and CNE heads to Turpin High School on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 1:20 p.m.
