Two quarters doomed the Felicity Lady Cardinals in their season-opening 57-36 loss to Peebles on Nov. 26.

Felicity scored 11 points in the first quarter, four of which came thanks to Kylie Sponcil. Unfortunately for the Lady Cardinals, McKinlee Ryan scored 14 points in the period, connecting on three free-throws and three three-point shots in the process.

Felicity’s defense picked it up in the second period, holding the Lady Indians to just six points on four free-throws and one basket. The Lady Cardinals managed seven points in the period, five of which came from Morgan Horn.

The Lady Cardinals trailed 28-18 at the break.

The third quarter was similar to the first. Jessica Sowards scored 11 points in the period for Peebles, six on free-throws. Ryan added seven more, and Felicity trailed 50-28 at the end of the third.

In the fourth, Sponcil added five more points for the Lady Cardinals, who out-scored Peebles 8-7 in the period.

Sponcil finished the game with 10 points, while Horn chipped in a team-leading 12. Kortnie Bradburn added six, with Sydney Stamper, Mariah Young and Kailey Carrington tallying two each.

Ryan led the Lady Indians with 22 points. Sowards tallied 21, with Mattison Nichols adding 10.

The Lady Cardinals host Norwood in their home opener on Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m.
