Fine art photographer, Robert Coomer, captures beauty in a forgotten, rural area.
From Nov. 25 to Dec. 28, Row House Gallery & Custom Framing will host The Mini & The Mighty featuring local artists Margi Hopkins and Robert Coomer. The exhibit is a collision of style, size and media contrasts exemplifying the energy and passion of both artists. Meet Hopkins and Coomer during the opening reception on Nov. 26, 4-7 p.m., and see how two very different bodies of work can collectively challenge the more traditional notions of artistic balance. Row House Gallery is located at 211 Main Street, Milford, Ohio 45150.

“The Mini & The Mighty is a showing of individual styles, not only in choice of medium but also in scale,” comments Nancy Meyer, president, Row House Gallery & Custom Framing. “From colored pencil paintings that measure as small as 3×5 inches to fine art photography printed on distressed steel in compositions that measure up to 68×28 inches, this exhibit will showcase how diverse art works can complement each other in extraordinary harmony.”

Award-winning artist Margi Hopkins is internationally known for her unusual technique in creating realism in her art. She applies small dots of color pencil on linen and uses solvents to blend selected areas to create an overall painterly effect. She will be exhibiting a collection of art featuring wildlife, regional and national scenes and domestic animals. Approximately 20 miniature colored pencil paintings will comprise the ‘mini’ part of the exhibit with each piece presented in small scale and rendered in extraordinarily intricate detail.

Robert Coomer is an award-winning, internationally known fine art photographer. He will be showing works from his Art in Decay series featuring images of cityscapes, mechanical and architectural antiquities and rural decay, with many pieces portraying an exploration of beauty in unexpected or forgotten areas. Approximately 15 works will represent the ‘mighty’ part of the exhibit with large scale, rich textures and a timeless industrial feel.

“Both Margi and Robert enjoy discussing their art and answering questions from viewers,” continues Meyer. “Join us at the reception to learn more about their respective techniques and to explore how you can blend distinctively diverse art styles to create an overall dramatic display.”

The Mini & The Mighty is a special gallery feature opening in conjunction with historic Milford’s Hometown for the Holidays, an annual Thanksgiving weekend event that encourages support for small, local businesses. Hometown for the Holidays will run 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Nov. 25 and 26. For more details, visit downtownmilford.com.
