The New Richmond Family Dollar is moving into a bigger store.

The new store, which is currently under construction on a formerly vacant lot at 1048 Old State Route 52, will be 8,300 square feet; it’s set to open in March 2017, according to Randy Guiler, vice president of investor relations for Dollar Tree, Inc.

The current store, which has been located in the Rivertown Market Place at 1041 Old State Route 52, Suite D since 1992, is 6,800 square feet.

“The new store will include an expanded offering of Family Dollar products

to better meet the needs of our local customers,” Guiler said in an email.

Responses to questions about existing and new staff positions were not yet available.

Greg Roberts, village administrator, said local officials are “excited” about the new store.

“We’re looking forward to it,” he said. “A new store is indicative of the fact that New Richmond is a growing community and a good place to do business.”

He added, “The fact that they’ve grown out of their current location says something about our village, and we’re happy they’re taking a longtime vacant lot and putting it to good use.”

Roberts noted that while he doesn’t know what business will replace the store’s current space, he doesn’t think it will be empty for long.

“There’s rarely any long-term vacancy in that plaza,” he added.
