Officers for the Batavia High School chapter of Business Professionals of America have been elected for the 2016-2017 school year. They include seniors Dylan Young – President, Zach Newcomb – Vice President, Natasha Camacho – Secretary, Sahil Patel – Treasurer, Collin Sammons – Historian, and Jake Kovacs – Parliamentarian. In addition, Will Scheffter is the junior representative and Kylie Adams and Amanda Moon are the sophomore representatives. Junior, Ashley Mathews and senior, Mary Caudill will represent students at Business Advisory Council meetings.

The officers recently organized a successful fundraiser for Honor Flight, donating $651 the tri-state chapter. Honor Flight is a non-profit organization that helps veterans visit their memorials in Washington D.C. that represent the sacrifices all veterans have made. Additional community service will benefit Special Olympics, suicide awareness, the Clermont County homeless shelter and the Susan B. Komen Foundation.

They have also planned fundraisers including a Chick-fil-A calendar sale and graduation yard signs. The students are trying to raise the estimated $20,000 needed to compete at the regional, state and national levels this year.

Business Professionals of America is the leading student organization for members pursuing careers in business, information technology and other related careers. BPA members are in the Great Oaks Legal Management satellite program at Batavia High School. For information about the chapter, contact faculty advisor Angie Kovacs.
