Slice of Stainless will be celebrating it’s 25th anniversary in the spring of 2017 with the completion of a $1.4 million expansion project.

The business provides small quantities of speciality stainless steel to industries including aerospace, medical and manufacturing. It will be adding an additional 20,000 square feet of office and warehouse space, which will include a redesigned freight entrance, another crane to move material, more loading docks and more shears to process sheets of metal, said Robin Tackett, founder, in an email.

In addition, Tackett expects to add six jobs throughout the next three years.

This is the company’s second expansion in 13 years. The building was built in 2003 and was expanded in 2008. When construction is complete, the facility will be 55,000 square feet and will cover almost six acres.

Tackett did consider moving Slice of Stainless outside of the county, but after the company was offered a tax abatement, decided to stay.

“The tax incentive was huge in our decision to expand in Clermont County,” Tackett said.

The company will receive a 50 percent tax break on the new portion for five years from the county. Union Township Trustee John McGraw supported the incentive because he did not even want the company to consider leaving the township.

In addition, in the long run the township will receive more taxes. The township and its residents will also benefit from additional jobs opening up.

“We’re thinking long term here,” McGraw said.

He is glad to have the company in the township and is excited that it is growing.

“Mostly I’m happy for Slice of Stainless because they’re doing so well,” McGraw said.

He added, “We’re certainly glad to add more manufacturing jobs for our area.”

Slice of Stainless began in Tackett’s garage in Stonelick Township. It then moved to a building in Goshen Township that Tackett shared with a family member’s business, until she found the location the company is currently at, on Seabrook Way.
