The Williamsburg Lady Wildcats finished the 2015 campaign in fifth place in the Southern Buckeye Athletic and Academic Conference National Division, winning just three conference games and five games overall last year.
This year, the team has already surpassed both of those numbers and finds themselves sitting in second place with three conference games remaining.
The squad defeated Georgetown 3-1 to kick off action across the county last week. On Sept. 20, the Goshen Lady Warriors rolled to a 6-0 win over Felicity-Franklin, while New Richmond shut out Clermont Northeastern 5-0. Batavia defeated Bethel-Tate 3-1, and in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference, Kings earned a 4-2 win over Glen Este.
Two days later, Amelia earned a 5-0 win over Norwood while New Richmond snuck past Batavia 1-0. Bethel-Tate and Georgetown battled to a 1-1 draw, while Williamsburg defeated CNE 1-0.
Glen Este and Milford were the only teams to hit the pitch over the weekend with Milford falling to Oak Hills 4-1 and Glen Este dropping a 5-1 decision to Fairfield on Saturday, Sept. 24.
Batavia battled Williamsburg in the only Clermont County matchup on Monday, Sept. 26. The Lady Bulldogs won the match 1-0.
The Lady Wildcats will be in action in Blanchester on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 5 p.m. Bethel-Tate will visit CNE at 5 p.m. In addition, New Richmond battles Norwood and Batavia visits Western Brown for a conference showdown. Both of those games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
