After taking the Labor Day holiday off last week, volleyball teams across the county returned to action on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Williamsburg earned a three-set sweep over Blanchester, 25-14, 25-13, 25-10. Clermont Northeastern swept Bethel-Tate 25-15, 25-10, 25-20 and Western Brown took three sets from Batavia by scores of 26-24, 25-11 and 25-22.

Georgetown defeated Felicity-Franklin 25-15, 25-20 and 25-22 to win that match, while New Richmond earned a 25-16, 25-16, 25-21 win over Norwood.

Goshen took a four-set decision over Amelia, winning 25-9, 22-25, 25-11, 25-20.

Glen Este and Milford squared off against each other in the ECC, with the Lady Trojans coming out on top in a close five-set battle. The Lady Eagles took the first set 25-17, but Glen Este rallied to win the next two by scores of 25-19 and 25-12, respectively. Milford would force a fifth set with a 25-13 win, but Glen Este won the deciding frame 15-13 to win the match.

Goshen returned to action on Sept. 7 for a non-conference bout against Fayetteville. The Lady Warriors rolled, winning the match 3-0 by scores of 25-4, 25-10 and 25-21.

The Lady Warriors won their third match of the week on Sept. 8, defeating Norwood 3-1. Goshen won the first two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-21 scores before dropping set three 23-25. They won the fourth and final set 25-22 to win the match.

Williamsburg traveled south to Felicity and took a three-set win from the Cardinals, posting scores of 25-10, 25-6 and 25-11. New Richmond and Western Brown battled to five sets with the Lady Lions coming out on top. New Richmond won the first set 25-20, but Western Brown rallied for 25-19 and 25-15 wins in sets two and three. The Lady Lions answered with a 25-20 win in the fourth set and closed the match out with a 15-11 decision for the win.

In the Eastern Cincinnati Conference, Glen Este won the first set 25- 23 against Kings, but they would drop the next three sets 16-25, 21-25 and 10- 25 to lose the match. Mil- ford was swept by Turpin 19-25, 16-25 and 12-25.

On Sept. 12, a few other local teams took to the hardwood. Bethel-Tate was supposed to face off against the Ripley Lady Blue Jays, but that match was canceled. However, Batavia’s match against Reading was held as scheduled, with the Lady Bulldogs dropping a three-set contest.

The Lady Trojans of Glen Este picked up a win in the ECC on Sept. 12, defeating Princeton 25-16, 27-25, 13-25, 25-15.

Most local teams will be in action on Thursday, Sept. 15. Georgetown visits Batavia for a 5 p.m. contest, while Williamsburg’s road trip to Goshen results in a 6 p.m. match. Amelia at Bethel-Tate and New Richmond at Blanchester begin at 6:30 p.m.m, while Clermont Northeastern at Norwood has a 7 p.m. start time.

Both ECC match-ups, Anderson at Glen Este and Milford at Kings, also begin at 7 p.m.
