The Clermont County Engineer’s Office today announced that major safety improvements will be made on a section of Wolfpen-Pleasant Hill Road. This work will require a full closure on Wolfpen-Pleasant Hill Road that will begin approximately 500-feet north of Raintree Drive and continue for approximately one-half mile south. The road will be closed to through traffic from Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, through Friday, Sept.1, 2017. A detour using SR 131 and US 50 will be put into place and marked with signage.

Clermont County Engineer Pat Manger said that there will be a series of improvements made along Wolfpen-Pleasant Hill to improve the safety on this stretch of road that is an important north-south connector in the County’s roadway network, connecting three state highways – state Route 131, state Route 28 and US 50. “The existing roadway will be realigned, several new retaining walls will be built and drainage improvements will be made to reduce water build-up and the related icing issues that have occurred on some sections of this road during winter months,” said Manger.

“This project will significantly improve safety for motorists who drive along this section of Wolfpen-Pleasant Hill Road,” Manger continued. “The deterioration of the retaining walls, steep slopes, periodic icy road conditions and sharp curves will all be addressed in order to make the road safer for all who travel through this area.”

Engineer Manger noted that this work is part of a coordinated regional program of improvements to upgrade the roadway network in Clermont County, including previous improvement work that was completed on SR 131 at the intersection of US 50 and in the surrounding area.

Engineer Manger also recognized the role of the Clermont County Transportation Improvement District in supporting these improvements. “In the past, this kind of project would not have been possible because it would have consumed an entire year’s capital budget and put the ability for the County to complete other necessary roadway repairs at risk. But with the CCTID in place, we are able to facilitate a project of this magnitude, and still keep other project work that improves the safety of our local roads on track.”
