While more than 45 local charities participated in Hoxworth Blood Center’s annual Bleed for a Cause competition, the reigning champions of 2015, Adore- a-Bull Rescue, grabbed the $10,000 first prize once again.

Hoxworth teamed up with TOYOTA Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America and Montgomery Inn for the fourth annual charity com- petition focused on recruit- ing blood donations within the community.

“The summer months are typically challenging times for the blood center,”  reports Hoxworth spokesperson, Alecia Lipton. “The charity challenge helped get us a critical period. We are thankful to all of the partic- ipating charities, the blood donors and our generous sponsors.”

Bleed for a Cause was held July 18 through Aug. 13 and included 47 local charities that went head to head to encourage donors to give in their name.
