The Clermont County Special Response Team was called to Blue Sky Drive in Goshen Township a little after 5 p.m. on July 17 after a man said he was going to commit suicide.

The resident was having some domestic issues with his wife and got intoxicated. He armed himself and locked himself in an airplane hanger, where he fired a couple shots. He sent a text message with the code to unlock the hanger and said that was where his body could be found, said Doug Ventre, SRT commander.

After receiving the text, 911 was called and the Goshen Police Department responded, but was unsure how to handle it, so they called the SRT.

After receiving consent, the SRT went in to check on the man’s wellbeing and found him passed out in the office of the hanger, Ventre said.

The SRT secured him and had paramedics come and check on him.

“It was a combination of alcohol and a problem with his wife,” Ventre said.

The man was taken to the hospital for evaluation and the Goshen Police Department issued a summons to court. He will be charged with using weapons while intoxicated, a first degree misdemeanor, said Chief Bob Rose.
