The Vertical Impact Youth Group of Amstrong Chapel UMC is once again busy making plans for The 7th annual STOMP OUT HUNGER 5K Run/Walk Race on July 30.

This race to reduce hunger in your community is a scenic course through the beautiful village of Indian Hill. The race will begin and end at Armstrong Chapel United Methodist Church, 5125 Drake Road in Indian Hill. It is a family friendly race that even includes dogs.

Proceeds from the race will benefit Inter Parish Ministry’s Choice Food and Clothing Pantries. Presenting sponsors are: Dawn Management Group, The Dan Varner Band, Michelle Heatherton, and Park National Bank. Lisa Coors from Coors Core Fitness is the Stomp’s Master of Ceremonies.

Each year, the Stomp Out Hunger 5K boasts more and more runners and walkers enjoy the scenic and family friendly course. “We are excited to host this event again, which makes such an impact on fighting summer hunger.” said Kyle Hazen, Armstrong Chapel Youth Director. “The funds raised will help fill Inter Parish Ministry’s Choice Food Pantry’s shelves, which are usually out of food by mid-summer every year.”

During the past seven years, this youth lead race as raised more than $18,000 to support Inter Parish Ministry’s Choice Food Pantries. This has allowed IPM to distribute more than 16,000 meals to families in need.

“At IPM we know that many children (1 in 4) are hungry and lack proper nutrition to grow and thrive. Our Stomp Out Hunger event is special because young people started this event and continue to lead it. These are ‘kids helping kids’ so that one day they can be strong, healthy leaders too!” said Lindsey Ein, Inter Parish Ministry’s Executive Director.

Inter Parish Ministry has been providing the basic necessities of food and clothing to people in need for more than 52 years. Its mission is to provide food, clothing, and other communal support to those in need and to empower clients with information, support and services to improve their lives.

Awards for the event will be presented in categories such as overall male and female runner and walker, and for specific age groups. A ‘top dog’ award will be presented too.

Registration will open at 7:30 a.m. with the run/walk starting promptly at 8:30 a.m. The cost for pre-registration is $30 with an athletic t-shirt, or $15 for the race only. The day of race cost is $35 with an athletic t-shirt or $20 for the race only. Pre-registration can be done online at www.registrationspot.com.
