Honas Hayes Richards, 79, of Zionsville passed away on July 12, 2016.

Honas was born on July 19, 1936 to the late Matilda Still and Herbert Richards in Cincinnati, Ohio. He lead a 47 year career as a trainman with Pennsylvania Railroad Company, which later became Conrail. In 1960 he joined the Army and served as a heavy weapons infantryman at Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin. He was a local chairman of the United Transportation Union, an avid golfer and NASCAR fan.

He is survived by his daughter, Toni Richards-Thompson (Martin), granddaughter Erin Thompson, and his 2 sisters; Jenny Cox and Jerry Hols. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Diersing Richards, his parents, 3 sisters, and 2 brothers.

Cremation services entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan- Zionsville.
