The Pierce Township Trustees accepted the resignation of Administrator Tim Hershner on June 8.

“We appreciated his steady hand during at time of change,” said trustee Bob Pautke, adding that the trustees wish him the best.

Hershner’s resignation is effective July 2, but he is using vacation time until then, Jenny Newcomb, community relations consultant, said in an email.

The elected officials will have a stronger role in the daily operations while they search for a new administrator, Pautke said.

The trustees posted the position on the Ohio Township Association website and hope to start interviewing at the end of June so they can hire a new administrator in mid-August. The public will be invited to ask questions of the final candidates, Newcomb said.

Pautke could not be reached for further comment.
