Twin Spires, a section of Lexington Run in Batavia Township, will be adding a new flagpole in front of their clubhouse on May 28.

The pole will be 20 feet high and hold a 4-by-6 foot flag. On top will be a solar panel so that the flag can be lit at all times, a requirement, without needing a power source beyond that, said Paul Carlson, president of the Homeowners Association.

Twin Spires has not had a flagpole for more than a year because the builder took down the last flagpole when the last patio style home sold. The HOA and Condo Owners Associations of Twin Spires, which has single family homes, patio home and condos, put it in the budget this year, Carlson said.

“It’s a commitment to our fellow Americans that we care,” Carlson said.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. at the Twin Spires clubhouse and will include a flag presentation by Carlson and Pat McLaughlin, president of the COA.

Sheriff Tim “AJ’ Rodenberg will speak and Carolyn Maupin is donating a Missing in Action/Prisoners of War flag. In addition, Tom Brevard will lead a Color Guard.

Refreshments, provided by Fischer Homes, will be available in the clubhouse following the program, according to a press release.
