Jason Griffith started to love music at a young age while growing up in northeastern Ohio listening to his father play bluegrass.

“The passion of music was instilled in me as a very small child,” Griffith said.

Now a resident of eastern Tennessee, Griffith travels mostly up and down the east coast playing music by artists such as Elvis, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings. He also plays some classic rock.

He began playing music at places like nursing homes, but his career took off quickly. Griffith has played in places like Memphis, where he went to be part of the Elvis week four years ago.

“It just keeps growing and growing and growing,” Griffith said.

Now he typically performs at venues such a wineries, American Legions, clubs, outdoor events and hotels.

Griffith works hard to entertain his audience because he feels that anyone who pays to see him should leave with their heart touched and feeling like they got their money’s worth and were thoroughly entertained.

His shows are always a mix of music by a variety of artists, mostly music legends that Griffith looked up to. In addition to singing, Griffith usually plays guitar, but he sometimes also plays the piano, the mandolin and the bass.

Griffith really enjoys traveling, which he keeps busy doing. He has been performing at the Old Milford Opry once a month for the past four months, and will keep performing there once a month for the rest of the year.

He likes the atmosphere of the Opry and enjoys the people who attend his events there. Griffith gets a lot of support from the community, which he describes as close knit.

“It’s just a really, really nice place to play music and entertain folks,” Griffith said.

His next performance at the Old Milford Opry, located at 125 Main St., is on May 21 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 and are sold at the door, but those interested can reserve tickets by emailing jasonaselvis@yahoo.com.
