Barbara Jean Altum, age 83 of Bristol, Virginia and formerly of Mt. Orab, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tennessee. She was a homemaker during the raising of her children and later became the owner of Williamsburg Self Storage in Williamsburg, Ohio for over 20 years. Barbara was born March 20, 1933 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the daughter of the late Clarence and Gertrude (Wentland) Stavos. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas W. Altum in 1996; a son, Christopher Altum in 2011 and two brothers Bobby and Roland.
Mrs. Altum is survived by two sons; Thomas Altum and life companion Kim Shrotel of Milford, Ohio, and Cory Altum and wife Mary Ann of Bristol, Virginia; one step-son, Rick Altum of California; one brother, Alan Stavos and wife Nancy of Wayzata, Minnesota and her beloved dog Bitsy.
The family would like to express our sincere thanks to all those who helped in the care of Barbara Altum. Your love and support over the last four years will never be forgotten.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Mt. Orab Cemetery in Mt. Orab, Ohio. Brent Cunningham will officiate. There will be no visitation. The Cahall Funeral Home in Mt. Orab, Ohio is serving the family.
