A perfect sunny day greeted the dozens of high school track and field teams that made the trek to Western Brown High School to participate in the 2016 Western Brown Invitational.

Seven Clermont County schools, all five Brown County schools and a trio of schools from Adams County were also in attendance.

The host Broncos walked away with the hardware in both the boys and girls divisions.

Western Brown’s Lady Broncos won in convincing fashion, outscoring second-place Sardina Eastern 142.5 to 98.

Amelia finished in third place in the girls division, 13 points behind Eastern. Clermont Northeastern finished in fifth place, followed by Bethel-Tate and Batavia.

Glen Este’s girls’ team finished in 10th place, Goshen was 11th and Felicity-Franklin finished in 16th place.

On the boys side, The Broncos edged Hillsboro, 117-109.5.

Goshen came in third place with 79 points, Glen Este was fourth, Batavia was fifth, Amelia was sixth, Bethel-Tate was seventh. Felicity-Franklin and Clermont Northeastern finished in 11th and 12th place, respectively.

Local girls individual champions included Batavia’s Leona Burton-Rojas who won the both the 100 and 200 meter dashes as well as the long jump.

Amelia’s Maddie Walker won the 400, 1600 and 3200 meter runs.

Amelia’s Maria Carderelli won the 800 meter run to sweep the distance races for the Lady Barons.

Amelia’s 4×200 relay team of Lindsey Buten, Chalel Crawford, Hannah Mahoney and Walker won as well.

In the field, Clermont Northeastern’s Jenna Mummert won the high jump.

Batavia’s Isabella Burton won both the 100 meter dash wheelchair race and the wheelchair shot put.

Boys individual champions were headed up by Jackson Coates of Bethel-Tate who won the boys’ 1600 and 3200 meter runs.

The Barons’ Blake Boykin won the boys 400 meter dash.

Batavia’s Dylan Young won the boys 800 meter run.

In the field, Goshen’s Jacob Meader won the high jump.

Glen Este’s Austin Snyder swept the throwing events, winning both the discus and shot put titles.

His teammate, Jacob Hamilton took home top honors in the pole vault.
