Keeping the pantry food shelves full is a daunting task for Inter Parish Ministry.

At least 25 people walk through the Food Pantry doors seeking food relief on a daily basis. These are every day people, who are sometimes faced with life altering crisis who are looking for a way to feed their family.

They are the faces of hunger in your community that Inter Parish Ministry serves six days a week at their Newtown and Batavia locations. Last year more than 4,300 families turned to IPM for food relief. This year those numbers continue to trend upward.

According to Choice Food Pantry Manager, Chuck Swanson, “It is always a task to keep our shelves full to serve those people who turn to us for help in a time of crisis.”

This includes working individuals whose wages are too low to make ends meet, grandparents who may now be charged with raising their grandchildren or individuals who may have been faced with a medical crisis that depleted their income.

To help keep the shelves full, Inter Parish Ministry is planning their fundraising event where attendeess can sip, taste, wine, dine and bid. The organization is planning Celebration 2016: Faces of Hunger and Hope on May 1st at the Oasis Conference Center in Loveland from 5-8 p.m.

The event will include by-the bite appetizers and soup sips, a live and silent auction, music, wine bar, craft beer bar and awards recognizing service contributions to the non-profit agency.

This year, Thom Brennaman will lead the event as Master of Ceremonies and Dan Varner will provide an acoustical concert. Local B 105.1 DJ Ryan Jacobs will kick off the event with music as attendees sip, bid and taste.

Through the celebration, IPM aims to deliver the message of gratefulness to a community that has made it possible to deliver basic services to those who need it most. The event will honor four individuals who have given hope to those in need through their volunteer efforts. Circle of Hope Award recipients include Tom Clore, Beth Bowers Klaine, Kathy Kennedy and Debbie Motz.

The silent and live auctions will include items such as Reds tickets, including a booth experience with Thom Brennaman, an acoustical concert provided by Dan Varner, dinner on the porch at Lobsta Bakes of Maine and much more.
