A bomb threat was called into the Walmart in Eastgate on April 7.

The caller simply said there was a bomb in the building. The Union Township Police and Fire Departments responded and evacuated the store, said Lt. Anthony Rees, of the police department.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office brought a K-9 capable of smelling bombs to the scene, but the dog did not detect anything. Rees suspects the bomb threat was called in as a distraction so that someone could steal from the store.

The police were able to get a license plate off of a security camera and tracked down Tabitha Fehrenbach, of Loveland, and Mark Whallen. Both are currently in the Clermont County Jail and have been charged with one count of aggravated robbery.

Fehrenbach’s preliminary hearing will be held April 14.

The investigation is ongoing, according to a press release.
