An Amelia man is accused of aggravated vehicular homicide after allegedly causing an accident on March 20.

Cory Lippmeier, 35, was driving a 2008 Dodge Caliber eastbound on Interstate 275 at 9:30 p.m. when he rear-ended a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am at the 73 milepost, driven by Scott Petredis, 41 of Milford, according to a press release from the Cincinnati Police Department.

When Lippmeier struck Petredis, both cars spun. Petredis’ car hit the inside wall, spun and then stopped against the outside guard rail.

Lippmeier also hit the inside wall and stopped in the outside median, according to the police report.

Lippmeier was seriously injured and Petredis sustained fatal injuries. Lippmeier was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center by the Cincinnati Fire Department. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelt, according to the CPD.

Officers estimate Lippmeier was driving at a speed of 100 miles per hour in a 65 mile per hour area. Petredis is estimated to have been traveling at 65 miles per hour, according to the police report.

Lippmeier was given a blood alcohol test, but the results were unknown in the police report.

Lippmeier was arrested and admitted to the Hamilton County Jail on March 21, where he remains.

His bond was set at a total of $500,000, without the option of posting 10 percent.

He is charged with two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, a felony of the second degree, for driving at a high rate of speed, being under the influence of drugs or alcohol and striking another vehicle, causing the death of the driver of that vehicle, according to the Hamilton County Municipal Court.

Lippmeier will appear in court on March 31 for his arraignment. If he is indicted, his case will go to a grand jury, according to the Hamilton County Municipal Court.
