The shrink sleeve systems manufacturer and contract packaging business Tripack has moved back to Milford with an agreement to stay in the city for five years.

“It’s always exciting when a new business decides to come into Milford, and it goes to show the attraction that Milford has for companies to relocate here,” said Mayor Laurie Howland.

Tripack is a small family business owned by Tom Linz. Founded in 2003 and originally based in Buffalo, N.Y., Tripack moved to Milford in 2006-2007. After staying in Milford for approximately five years, they moved to Florence, Ky. Now another five years later they decided to return to Milford.

“It’s actually kind of coming back to where we began,” said Nick Linz, son of Tom Linz and sales and marketing representative for Tripack.

Tripack contracts with different companies to place decorative labels on a variety of containers and manufactures shrink sleeve systems for other companies to put labels on their own products.

Milford City Council established an incentive program, and as part of it they made an agreement for Tripack to offer the company a five year grant, or rebate, if it has at least a $1.5 million annual total payroll during that time. The agreement has not yet been signed by Tripack.

The earnings tax credit rebate will be equal to 50 percent of the company’s employee earnings tax the first year, 30 percent the second year and 20 percent year three through five.

Tripack will return to the city a portion of the grant dependent on their time spent in the city if they decide to leave or cease operation before the five years is over.

Tripack’s new headquarters is at 401 Milford Parkway, where they are leasing approximately 84,000 square feet at Jeff Wyler Automotive Family’s headquarters.

“It’s perfect for what we do, in our packaging work as well as our manufacturing, it was a convenient location for our staff. We have staff based all over the tri-state and it seemed like a good fit for all of us,” Linz said.

Linz said the company is continuing to grow and will to add more staff as they do, such as technical support technicians and more engineering staff. Tripack currently has about 20 full-time employees.

“Hopefully the community is happy we’re here, and we’re looking forward to providing some employment and being a part of what’s going on,” Linz said.

While the lease at their new location is for five years, Linz wants this move to be more than just temporary.

“The hope is we have no need to move after that, so hopefully it becomes a nice home and we’re here for longer than that period of time. That’s the plan anyway,” Linz said.

Linz said that Tripack is transitioning into the new building in Milford and production is ramping up in spring.
