Dear Editor:

Hard to believe but in three short years Clermont Senior Services will celebrate 50 years of providing services to frail, at risk older adults in Clermont County. For most of those years the Senior Services Levy has been the cornerstone of financial support for meals-on-wheels, transportation, homecare, adult day care, home repair and adult protective services, to name but a few of the agency’s services.

This levy must come before you and other voters of Clermont County every five years to be voted up or down based on your confidence in whether the agency is making good use of your tax dollars.

Happily, since the Senior Services Levy first passed in 1981, you and others have shown your confidence and trust by overwhelmingly voting for the levy each time it has appeared on the ballot. As an example, in 2011 the levy passed with an affirmative vote of 75 percent.

The board and staff of Clermont Senior Services continue to be frugal and efficient in the use of every dollar received, so it is with confidence that I ask you to join me in voting for the Senior Services Levy on March 15, keeping in mind that, once again, this is a renewal levy, which means approval will not raise your taxes.
