Margaret Burke (nee Laehr) died on Dec. 12 in her Milford, Ohio home surrounded by her family. Margaret was married to the late Robert Burke for fifty years. Born in 1926 in Cincinnati, she was the beloved mother of Patty Hogan (Tim), Sally Riffle (Andy), Bob Burke, Chuck Burke, Peggy Burke (Dennis Boyle), Tom Burke (Vicki), Julie Glaser (EJ), Michael Burke ( the late Douglas Scott), Jim Burke (Carolyn) and Nancy Ralstin (Ron Cooke). She had 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Her keen intellect and loving heart were a rare combination. With kindness she beat a dozen Words with Friends opponents up until the week of her death. She loved travel, shopping, books, entertaining, style and football. She was the one you’d want to sit next to at a dinner party. A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held on March 5th, in honor of what would have been her 90th birthday.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Hospice of Cincinnati, Clermont Senior Services or the Cincinnati Nature Center.
