The West Clermont Board of Education recognized three teachers at the Monday Dec. 14 Board of Education meeting.

According to Human Resources Director Chris Davis, the District believes that appropriate recognition of exemplary personnel contributes to a highly qualified, highly satisfied, and highly appreciated staff. “The program recognizes employee behavior that advances the District’s overall performance,” he said. “Recognition is timely and relates to specific accomplishments and is in direct response to positive behaviors and continuous improvement.”

Peggy Simmons- First Grade teacher at Summerside Elementary

Bob Winterberger, Summerside Elementary Principal said, “The classroom is the “Hub” of our schools and I nominate Mrs. Simmons for her daily accomplishments in her classroom. Peggy excels in various levels in her role as a teacher. First and foremost she supports the mission of continuous improvement. She is very passionate and serves on the District Literacy Framework team; her commitment to the improvement process is also demonstrated buy her presence on the School Improvement Team. Peggy serves as a role model for everyone in our building. She has demonstrated on many occasions that she is “all in” for the families and students she serves. She is certainly a game changer for the staff at Summerside Elementary.”

Tamara Nicoloff- Art, Amelia Middle School

Amelia Middle School Teacher Erin Cupito said, “Tamara is a talented artist who is always looking to make Amelia Middle School look awesome! She shares her artistic talent by decorating all of the bulletin boards and by assisting in any school activity. Her artistic ability makes simple things look extra special. Tamara can be counted on to volunteer her skills to improve the way our building looks and adds a special touch to projects around the building. Amelia Middle School is fortunate to have such a talented teacher who is willing to give of herself and share her talents.”

Leslie Spangler- Virtual Academy, Amelia High School

Brian Wallace, Virtual Academy Coordinator said, “Through hard work and compassion Mrs. Spangler repeatedly changes the lives of our at-risk high school students. She has been essential in assisting 84 students earn their diplomas during last school year. Thus far she has worked to help 14 more students complete their graduation requirements. West Clermont would not be able to meet its graduation criteria without the efforts of Mrs. Spangler. She expects students to perform at high standards and to put forth a tremendous effort towards their own success. Part of her success comes from her ability to build trusting relationships with students, parents, counseling staff and community resources within the Clermont County courts. Leslie not only assists students with their academics but serves as a mentor to teach students the value of hard work and perseverance. She works countless hours with a passion for her students to provide them the safe and stable educational environment they need to assure their success.”
