Village of Moscow residents are invited to apply for a position on the village council that will be vacated with the resignation of Brenda Jones, who is moving to Withamsville.

Jones’s resignation will take effect at the end of December.

“Once the seat is officially vacated, council will have 30 days to approve a replacement,” said Administrator David Plummer in an email. “If those 30 days expire, the mayor will then be able to appoint someone on his own.”

Applications for the position will not be accepted until January, Plummer added.

Jones has served on the council since 2013, when she was appointed to fill the vacant seat left by her husband, Kent, who passed away in February 2013.

“Kent was very, very involved in local government,” Jones said. “He always wanted to be involved.”

She was elected to her seat in December of that year.

Jones, who has lived in Moscow since 2004, said she and her husband were welcomed by the community.

She said she is selling her house and moving to her second home in Withamsville because of finances.

“When my husband passed away, I stayed in Moscow because I love Moscow,” she said. “I stayed as long as I could because it’s such a wonderful town. I don’t want to leave.”

Jones said she is most proud of working as a team on the council to get things done in the village of Moscow.

“I’ve made some wonderful friends here, and I’ll be back for events and such,” she said.

Anyone interested in applying for the position on the village council is directed to submit their application in writing to the Administrator’s Office on the second floor at 30 Wells St., Moscow, OH, 45153. Questions may be directed to Plummer at 513-553-6870.
