The Milford High School Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that two more members of its Class of 2016 will continue their athletic careers on the collegiate level.

The student-athletes that have committed to continuing their academic and athletic futures include Molly Shea (Women’s Lacrosse-Mount St. Joseph University) and Samantha Short (Women’s Lacrosse-Methodist University).

Short will enter her fourth year on the varsity team (Milford lacrosse is currently a club sport) in the spring and was a second team all-conference selection last spring.

She has played lacrosse competitively in seven different states and is the last original member of the first Milford club lacrosse team to graduate.

She also earned honorable mention all-district honors as a sophomore.

At Mount St. Joseph, Shea will play for head coach Mike O’Hara who enters his fifth season leading the Lions this year. Molly is the daughter of Mike Shea and Shelly Zude.

 

Short will be a fourth year on the varsity team in the spring after earning ECCLC honorable mention honors in 2015.

Away from the field, Short was an Academic All-Ohio and US Lacrosse Academic All-American selection, as well as an AP Scholar, while holding a GPA over 4.0.

At Methodist, Short will play for head coach Kendyl Clarkson who enters her third season leading the Monarchs this year. Samantha is the daughter of Andy and Tawn Short.

Andy serves as the head coach for the Milford High School girls club lacrosse team which will move to varsity status beginning in 2017.

A total of five members of Milford’s Class of 2016 have now announced plans to play sports collegiately after graduation.

Further signee information will be shared throughout the 2015-16 academic year as it is finalized.
