Haley Blue-Bogan, former basketball star of Western Brown High School and the University of Charleston, has been inducted into the University of Charleston Athletic Hall of Fame.

Bogan was inducted during the induction ceremony held Oct. 16.

While at Western Brown, Bogan led the Lady Broncos to three league titles, a sectional title, and a district title; helping her high school varsity team advance to the regional tournament.

Bogan, a point guard, held both assist and steal records at Western Brown.

She also scored 1,440 points during her high school basketball career, starting in every game.

Former Western Brown basketball coach Perry Ogden had the privilege of introducing Bogan, his former player, at the recent Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

Ogden praised Bogan for her tireless effort both on and off the court.

“She always played at top speed,” said Ogden. “She was always tenacious.”

At Charleston, Bogan used the same athletic skills and work ethic to achieve great success in the sport of basketball.

She led the NCAA (all three divisions) for three consecutive seasons in steals, finishing with a total of 629 career steals.

She also dished out 802 assists during her four years at Charleston, being named to the all-conference team all four years of college.

“She was the heart and soul of our team,” said Bogan’s former college coach, Linda Bennett.

Bogan is now the varsity girls’ basketball coach at Williamsburg High School.
