25 football players from Clermont County were honored last week when the Associated Press announced its Southwest All-District football teams. A media panel from the district selected the rosters.

New Richmond was the most decorated team with six players named to the All-District line up. Williamsburg had five, Glen Este had four, Batavia and Clermont Northeastern each had three, Bethel-Tate had two and Amelia and Milford both had one athlete recognized.

The group was headlined by six First Team All-District honorees. Williamsburg was tops in that department having three players named to the Division VI First Team.

Offensively, Williamsburg’s Spencer Clowery and Bryson Vize were among the best at their positions. Clowery, one of the Wildcats’ running backs, led the team in rushes (189), yards (1,075) and touchdowns (20). He also was the team’s most potent receiving threat, catching 14 balls for 198 yards and another touchdown.

Vize, an offensive lineman, was one of Clowery’s biggest assets, opening holes for the running back.

Kurt Meisberger was honored for his defensive prowess, named to the First Team All-District defensive team. While nearly as effective on the offensive side as Clowery, Meisberger led the defense with 25 solo tackles and 62 assists. He also intercepted two passes.

Joining the three First Teammers on the honor roll were Justin Clark, a Second Team offensive lineman, and Dylan Bailey, a Second Team defensive end.

Glen Este placed two players on the Division II First Team offense in quarterback Tyler Pilcher and wide receiver Jacob Hamilton. The pair had an exceptional senior campaign, linking up 54 times for 987 yards and seven touchdowns.

Pilcher also completed 115 passes to other receivers, racking up an additional 1,673 yards and 15 more touchdowns.

On the Second Team offense, fittingly, offensive lineman Clayton McCune and running back Robby Boone were recognized. McCune helped Boone to rush for over 1,500 yards and 23 touchdowns.

New Richmond’s Tyler Sammons was named to the Division III First Team All-District offense for the second consecutive season. The Lions’ offensive lineman has been one of the most dominant players in the Southern Buckeye Conference and around the district for each of the past three seasons.

Sammons’ teammates Michael Williamson, Chandler Kinhalt, Brian Waddle, Jacob Cyrus and Austin Torrens were named as Division III All-District Honorable Mentions.

In Division V, Bethel-Tate had a pair of Second Team honorees in Steven Cooper and Jeffrey Botts. Cooper, the Tigers’ full back in their Wing-T offense, rushed for over 1,000 yards and 13 touchdowns. Botts, a two-way player for Bethel, was honored for his defensive prowess as a strong safety, although he could have just as easily been recognized for his offensive skill.

Elsewhere in DV, Clermont Northeastern had a trio of players named as All-District Honorable Mentions list in Dalton Miracle, Joey Groeber and Luke Newton.

Batavia had three players named as Honorable Mentions as well, theirs in Divison IV: Seth Steele, Stephen Trainor and Austin Maham.

Finally, in Division I, both Amelia and Milford had one player recognized as an All-District Honorable Mention. For the Barons, wide receiver Bobby Wilmoth was tapped and for Milford, senior offensive lineman Clay Knecht was honored.
