Mercy Health – Cincinnati, which provides advanced, quality, compassionate care in your neighborhood through its care network, announces that Mercy Health – Anderson Hospital has notched its latest honor – making Becker’s Hospital Review’s list of 100 Hospitals with Great Heart Programs.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States, and nearly half of Americans have at least one risk factor for heart disease. Becker’s notes that the hospitals and health systems included on this year’s list are national leaders when it comes to multiple aspects of cardiovascular care. They have received recognition for clinical excellence for certain procedures, such as heart bypass and valve surgeries, and treatment of heart failure and heart attack patients. Through their comprehensive programs, they also support heart education and disease prevention efforts.

“This recognition is evidence of the excellence in patient care that our heart care team provides,” said Vanshipal Puri, MD, a cardiologist with Mercy Health – The Heart Institute.

“Having the full spectrum of cardiovascular services, including cardiac surgery, right here in our community, is a valuable resource. Patients can receive comprehensive, high quality care close to home,” said cardiovascular surgeon and Mercy Health Physician Donald Buckley, MD, who serves as Medical Director of Cardiovascular Services at the Anderson Hospital.

“Residents of the East Side of Cincinnati have a national leader in heart care in their midst – Mercy Health – Anderson Hospital,” said Jeff Graham, Mercy Health East Market President and CEO.

Graham added, “Earlier this year, the American Heart Association recognized our heart care team for quality achievement, while Truven Analytics named us one of the 50 Top Cardiac Hospitals in the nation late last year. I congratulate our doctors, nurses and staff on their unflagging dedication to Mercy Health’s mission of improving the health of the communities we serve. It’s their talent and hard work that earned Becker’s national recognition of Anderson Hospital’s heart program.”

Becker’s Hospital Review selected hospitals for inclusion based on national rankings and awards from several institutions, including U.S. News & World Report rankings for cardiology and heart surgery, U.S. News’ Common Care ratings for heart bypass surgery and heart failure, Truven Health Analytics’ cardiovascular hospital rankings, CareChex rankings for cardiac care, Blue Distinction Centers for Cardiac Care, star ratings from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Healthgrades cardiology awards and Magnet designation.

Becker’s Hospital Review has published a version of this list annually since 2010.

This is the fourth year it has included 100 organizations.

Hospitals do not pay to be on this list or to announce their recognition.
