Helga Alice Marie McMahon, 85, of Dillsboro, IN, passed away Friday, October 23, 2015 at her residence. She was born November 24, 1929, daughter of the late Otto and Maria Pentzel Kempfe. She was married to Frederick R. McMahon, who survives, for 57 years.

To say Helga loved shopping was an understatement; she would look for any reason just to go. She had many special talents: a gifted tailor, seamstress and craft maker just to name a few. She loved cooking, gardening and reading. Helga spoke several languages, including Swahili and was a first class Military wife. She will be remembered as a happy, energetic person who loved life and the color red.

She is survived by her daughter, Frances (Brian) Bauman; grandchildren, Tia Marie Schaeffer and Lana Leigh (Zach) Watson; sisters, Gerda, Elfrieda, Hildegard and Jutta; several nieces and nephews and her constant companion, Otto.

Helga is preceded in death by her daughter, Ann Marie McMahon and her brother, Edward Davey.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at E.C. Nurre Funeral Home, 177 W. Main St. (SR 125), Amelia with Deacon Michael Thomas officiating. Interment Pierce Township Cemetery. Visitation was held Tuesday, from 1:00 PM, until the time of service, at the funeral home.
