Before you toss old bank records, tax statements, and all those credit card offers you receive into the recycling bin, take a moment and put the sensitive documents in a bag or box and circle Oct. 24 on your calendar.

The City of Milford and Cintas Document Management will be sponsoring a free community shred day on Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Municipal Building parking lot located at 745 Center Street.

“Safely discarding documents that contain personal identifiers is one of the best ways to prevent identity theft” said Chief Jamey Mills.

This is an excellent opportunity to properly dispose of personal documents and other materials containing sensitive information such as social security numbers and bank account numbers instead of placing the documents in your recycling bin. This service is free to all citizens and businesses in the community.
