Batavia’s Christmas in the Village will be Saturday, December 5, this year, and the Village Council is dedicating the event to the memory of the late Earl “Bud” Carter.

The annual children’s event entails amusements, games and prizes.

The Village Council Beautification Committee sponsors Christmas in the Village, and Mr. Carter was active in organizing the event each year while on Council. He was a councilman from January 2010 until he died on April 11, 2015.

Councilwoman Kathy Turner is coordinating the event and asking for contributions.

“We will have a horse-drawn wagon ride, a magician, Santa Claus, door prizes and other attractions,” Mrs. Turner said.

Participating merchants and other businesses on East Main Street in the West Main Street part of town can participate in an area along East Main, if they wish to do so, she said.
